Vacuum Technology

Chairman: Dr. Magnus Janicki, Leybold, Germany
Secretary: Jürgen Eisenreich, VDMA, Germany

The Pneurop committee 5 (PN 5) is the European sector committee of the specialised associations of European national associations which are members of PNEUROP and cover the Vacuum Technology.

It is the European platform of the member companies of these national associations. PN 5 is observing and supporting the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO/TC 112 “Vacuum Technology”) and the European committee of Standardisation (CEN/TC 232 “Compressors-Safety) on the corresponded field of activity. Furthermore PN 5 develops own recommendations and keeps the members informed on the relevant European directives.

Industry

The major product categories of the Vacuum Technology are:

  • Vacuum Pumps
  • Vacuum Instrumentation (e.g. pressure gauges, leak detectors, mass spectrometers)
  • Vacuum Hardware (e.g. Valves, Flanges and Fittings, chambers, feedthroughs)

The manufactures of these vacuum components serve the following markets with its products:

The chart for the Vacuum Market Segmentation was developed by the Working Group on International Statistics for Vacuum Technology (ISVT).

Further information on ISVT can be find HERE

Standardisation

The Standardisation for the Vacuum technology is done on ISO level.

Structure:

  • ISO/TC 112 WG 1 “Vacuum pumps”
  • ISO/TC 112 WG 2 “Vacuum instrumentation“
  • ISO/TC 112 WG 3 “Vacuum hardware”

ISO TC 112 standards and those underdevelopment can be find HERE
